22 New Cadillac CT6 Sedans Were Delivered In 2022

The last North America-bound Cadillac CT6 rolled off the assembly line in February 2020, marking the end of the luxury sedan’s run in markets such as Canada, the United States, South Korea and the Middle East. During 2022 however, nearly two dozen new CT6 unit deliveries were recorded, indicating that some of these luxury sedan units remain parked in dealer lots.

Throughout the 2022 calendar year, Cadillac sales totaled 134,726 units in the US. Of these, 22 of them are Cadillac CT6 sedans. Vehicles sold after production has ended are colloquially referred to as “zombie cars,” and such vehicles have likely been in many dealerships for some time.

The Cadillac CT6 was originally introduced for the 2016 model year as the marque’s luxury high-end sedan. It was the first model to feature Cadillac’s alphanumeric naming convention, where cars are marked with the CT# nameplate while crossovers carry the XT# moniker. Additionally, the CT6 introduces advanced rear-wheel drive and a mixed-base Omega vehicle platform.

The luxury sedan received a midcycle refresh for the 2019 model year, featuring updated exterior styling, a revised trim level structure in keeping with the luxury marque’s Y-trim strategy, and a host of other updates. This refresh also introduces the CT6-V. Originally debuting as the CT6 V-Sport, the CT6-V featured a twin-turbocharged 4.2L “Blackwing” V8 engine.

Shortly after the refreshed model was introduced, Cadillac announced plans to drop the Cadillac CT6 from its lineup after plans to close the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, where the luxury sedan is manufactured. While executives initially backed off on the decision to shut down the CT6, the vehicle was officially discontinued after the 2020 model year in North America. The last CT6 to roll off the assembly line went on sale in July 2020 at a dealership in Maryland.

However, the Cadillac CT6 lives off the land, in both its current first-generation form and subsequent-generation models. Made exclusively for the Chinese market, the new luxury sedan features a revised styling as well as a new cockpit that will align it more closely with the marque’s electric vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq.
