After a comprehensive teaser campaign, Alfa Romeo and Zagato have completed the Giulia SWB. True to its name, this one-of-a-kind car began life as a sports sedan before its wheelbase was shortened to a sleek two-door coupe with no rear seats. The donor car was a Spicy Quadrifoglio model with a V6, but the Italian coachbuilder upgraded the car to GTAm specification while keeping the six-speed manual gearbox.
The front-end styling is a mix of old and new as it takes inspiration from the Alfa Romeo SZ by employing the new three-point LED headlamp design from the 2023 Giulia facelift. The Kammback’s rear design follows that of the Giulia TZ while the large GTAm rear wing has been removed to create a cleaner look. .

A beefy diffuser features double vertical fins flanking the dual exhaust tips to echo the super sedan in “Gran Turismo Alleggerita modificata” flavour. In typical Zagato fashion, the Giulia SWB features a double bubble roof and a ventilated hood. As well as removing the tailgate, coachbuilder also removed the front door’s conventional handle to spruce up the side profile. There is a button mounted on the B-pillar to open the door. Nearly every body panel has been redesigned and made from carbon fiber.
At the heart of the Giulia coupe is a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine mated to GTAm specifications, meaning it produces 533 horsepower (398 kilowatts) and 600 Newton-meters (442 pound-feet) of torque. Unlike the original GTAm, which sold only with an eight-speed automatic, power is sent to the wheels via a Quadrifoglio six-speed manual transmission.
If you’re wondering how the car came to be, Zagato wants to celebrate 100 years since its first collaboration with Alfa Romeo. In 2021, a century after the 1921 Tipo G1, the project gets the green light. The Milan-based design house was then approached by a German customer who wanted a custom car. He owns not only the SZ and 8C Competizione but also several Aston Martin models written by Zagato and the latest products from Alfa Romeo.
After taking part in a photo shoot at the “La Pista” circuit in Arese, the shortened Giulia Coupe will be handed over to its rightful owner. Pricing details haven’t been disclosed but it must be expensive considering the Giulia GTAm retails for almost $200,000 at home in Italy.
