Lego got off to a strong start to the year releasing lots of exciting sets for car enthusiasts. The latest entry is another collaboration with Bugatti to follow up on the crazy 3,599-piece Chiron kit that launched in 2018. This one is also based on the W16 hypercar, but it’s a hoodless version. The track-only Bolide gets a black and yellow scheme with stickers for the “42151” toy set of 905 pieces adapted for kids ages 9 and up.
Just like the Ford GT Lego Technic that launched this week, the Chiron-based Bolide also has moving pistons. Scissor opening doors, a detailed 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine bay and aero wheels with low profile tires are all part of the package. It is complemented by a roof scoop and detailed interior featuring a turntable steering wheel.

New kit measures over 3” (8cm) high, 12” (31cm) long and 5” (13cm) wide. It’s easy to see Bolide’s signature X-shaped taillights that meet at the center rear, drawing attention to the massive quad exhaust tips. At the front, the wheel arches have white “X” stickers, while the traditional shoe grille has been faithfully replicated.
While the real Bugatti Bolide is available for an eye-watering €4 million, its Lego Technic counterpart is slightly cheaper. The price is $49.99 and you are limited to two items per purchase. Kits are already available to order while the original – limited to 40 units – won’t be in owners hands until 2024.
The recently launched Bolide, Mistral Roadster and Profilée marked the end of the unconventional W16 Chiron and Bugatti engines. Molsheim’s next automotive gem will appear later this year with a hybrid powertrain featuring the “absolutely insane” combustion engine developed by Rimac.
