The new battery-electric Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan is making its first public appearance, debuting in China at the 2022 China International Import Expo (CIIE), thanks to import organization Durant Guild.
The Durant Guild was announced by Cadillac and its parent company, General Motors, in September as a platform that would allow vehicles like the Celestiq to be imported into the Asian country. At CIIE, the Durant Guild brought several GM vehicles, including a 2024 Cadillac Celestiq, to show off to fans and potential customers.
“[The vehicles] appearing at CIIE is highly desirable and represents General Motors innovation in the SUV and supercar segments of ultra-luxury, full-size all-electric performance,” said Felix Weller, President and Managing Director of The Durant Guild. “We learned at CIIE in recent years that Chinese consumers are looking for more exclusive, more diverse, and more premium products and high-quality services and experiences. This year, we showed that we can make it happen.”
After various delays, the Cadillac Celestiq show car finally launched in July 2022, promising to be the most customizable vehicle in the luxury marque lineup to date. It was revealed in production form in mid-October, revealing powertrain specifications and other important details. Talking about the powertrain, the Cadillac Celestiq 2024 has a 111 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system. Cadillac estimates the setup will be good for around 300 miles on a single charge while delivering 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. This ultra luxury sedan is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds
The ultra-luxury electric sedan will be handcrafted in minuscule quantities at the GM Global Technical center in Michigan, allowing its makers to fabricate even the smallest details before shipping to buyers in the US and China.
