Three Cadillac Racing entries spread over two race tracks on Sunday, July 9th, 2023, with No. 2 V-Series.R at Monza, while No. 31 V-Series. R and No. 01 V-Series.R took to the track at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, formerly known as Mosport. All three racing teams struggled during their respective events, and ended with mediocre results in the IMSA and FIA World Endurance Championship races.
Cadillac Racing V-Series.R No.01, driven by Renger van der Zande and Sebastien Bourdais, is perhaps the worst race of the three Caddy’s. While this race car showed pace in the early stages of the race, when van der Zande took hold towards the end he made contact with a competitor. Unable to aim properly, V-Series.R No. 01 slides across a sand trap and crashes into a tire barrier. Van der Zande was unharmed, but the race car was unable to continue, dropping the No. 1 Cadillac. 01 to ninth.
V-Series. R No. The 31, driven by Pipo Derani and Alexander Sims, had a much less chaotic run. However, V-Series.R No. The 31 lacked the pace to race the leader, finishing seventh overall.
Meanwhile, Cadillac Racing’s entry No. 2 at Monza was piloted by a joint effort between Earl Bamber, Richard Westbrook, and Alex Lynn. After a rotating pit stop, the No. 2 V-Series.R took the lead, but Westbrook, who was driving at the time, was called back to the pits for emergency fuel. Then, just two laps later, he was called back to full fuel and energy, sending him off the rails and ruining the No. 2 Caddy’s chances of winning the day. The team ended up finishing 10thth.
