Dead But Alive Vehicles Sold In 2022

No matter what you do to them (except shoot them in the head), the zombies won’t die quickly. Some cars too, apparently, and in 2022, there are cars selling even though they left the market a few years ago. This dead but living car comes in various forms. Some are fast while some are meh, bBut they all have one thing in common – they refuse to drop off the US sales charts.

Let’s start with Stellantis, which reported the highest number of zombie cars in 2022 at 48. The automaker sold a total of 24 Fiat 124 Spider, 8 500, 8 500L, 1 Alfa Romeo 4C, 2 Chrysler 200, 1 Dodge Viper, and 4 Archery .

For the record, the Dodge Viper was last launched in 2017, while the Dart and Chrysler 200 are even older with the last example being built in 2016. The Fiat 500 was discontinued in 2019, while the 500L and 124 Spider left the US market after the 2020 model year. Alfa Romeo 4C exited the US market in 2018, with the Spider following in its footsteps a few years later. The Stellantis 2022 US sales chart does not show whether it was a coupe or convertible sold that year.

The luxury automaker is having their share of zombie models in 2022. BMW reported five i8s sold despite ending production in 2020. The i3, which ends production in the US in 2021, also saw nine units sold last year.

Toyota Lexus is selling its own dead car in 2022 in the form of two GS units. That Big Sedans discontinued in 2020. Meanwhile, Infiniti Nissan reported one Q70 sedan, which is coming out of the US after the 2019 model year. Acura Honda has the highest number of zombie cars among Japanese luxury brands, reporting three RLXs sold years after leaving the market.

Kia America is also selling zombie cars for 2022. Cadenza, which leaves the Korean marque’s lineup in the US in 2021, got one owner last year.
