For decades, Mopar has provided in-house upgrades for Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles. 2023 is no exception, but bittersweet. The Dodge Charger and Challenger as we know them will be dead next year, so it’s time for the final Hemi-powered dance with the special edition model from Mopar. And to make it special, there isn’t one version, but two.
Simply called the 2023 Dodge Challenger and Mopar Charger special edition models, this is the first time the two are being offered at once. Each is based on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody trim, meaning a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 is under the hood. The Mopar upgrade is purely aesthetic, so the naturally aspirated mill keeps its standard output of 485 horsepower.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the Challenger, with an optional eight-speed automatic. The charger is automatic only, and both cars use Widebody competition suspension with six-piston Brembo brakes at the front, four-piston at the rear. However, the calipers are given a special Mopar blue coating as part of the special edition treatment. 20-inch wheels with 305/35 series tires will come off the widebody fenders.
As for the other special edition tweaks, a thick matte black over-the-top stripe was added, interspersed with tiny blue stripes around the edges. You find more blue on the grille with bespoke Mopar badges, and at the rear, there’s a carbon fiber spoiler that’s exclusive to this special edition model. Moving inside you’ll find additional Mopar branding on the floor mats and instrument panel, the latter of which includes a serial number. There’s also a bright boot mat and door sills to help distinguish these cars from the pack.
Production is limited to a total of 440, which are divided into 220 each. 200 will go to US buyers with 20 scheduled for Canada. And you can have any color you want, as long as it’s black.

The Mopar Special Edition adds $3,995 to the price of the 2023 Charger and Challenger Scat Pack Widebody. Production will begin in September with delivery planned for October. Overall production of the current-generation Dodge Charger and Challenger ended in December.
