The arrival of winter coincides with the return of one of the most annoying problems for users: and if you don’t solve it, it could cost you dearly
If in summer the only real problem for those who get behind the wheel is the sultry heat that makes us find the car as if it were a gigantic four-wheeled oven, drive in the fall and especially in the winter it can lead us to face numerous difficulties.
We naturally think of the abundant rains that follow the summer season, while as soon as the temperature drops further, fog, ice on the roads and sometimes even snow arrive in some parts of Italy.
In these cases you have to use the utmost caution possible to prevent a simple move from turning into an accident. Especially if you don’t have the possibility to keep the car in the garage in the evening and find it completely “frozen” not only inside, but also and above all outside.
This leads to the birth of a very common and annoying phenomenon: the fogging of the windows. In addition to being a nuisance to be removed as soon as possible, it can also become a dangerous obstacle for the driver who must therefore ensure that he has the best visibility, under penalty of an inevitable fine.
How to span car windows and what are the fines expected
To tarnish easily are the windshield, side windows and rear window. This happens due to the difference that exists between the internal and external temperature of the car, in addition to the high humidity and condensation that are created by this strong contrast.
To solve the problem effectively, we need to work patiently and not as we are used to doing. First of all, it is not recommended to use the air recirculation. This feature, which is present in all cars, simply lets in air from outside and in some cases it could even make the problem worse.
Then one tries to span it by turning it on hot air conditioning, which actually has the momentary merit of solving the problem. The point is that in doing so the internal temperature of the vehicle will also rise considerably: this means that as soon as you turn off the air conditioner, the windows will fog up again with shocking speed.
The only way to solve almost permanently is to lower the temperature inside the machine. That’s right: even in winter you should tolerate using a little cold air from the air conditioner or at least agree not to set the temperature too high. The alternative is to roll down the windows for a while, you will see that even then the windows will end up misting very easily.
Also remember not to try to clean the windshield or windows with your hand otherwise you risk leaving an indelible mark. Use a instead microfiber cloth cleaned so that it does not leave streaks for the future.
Whatever decision you make about how to fix your windows fogging up, you need to make it before you hit the road.
If the police catch you with your windows clearly fogged up and therefore affecting your visibility, you risk a fine in accordance with article 141 of the Highway Code: the amount varies from 42 to 173 euros. Be careful.
