Valentino Rossi is preparing for an unprecedented challenge: in February he could participate in one of the most exciting motoring events in the world.
They are rest days and holidays for Valentino Rossiin Madonna di Campiglio together with little Juliet and her partner Frances Sofia Novello. After organizing (and participating in) the ‘100 Km of Champions’ at his Ranch in Tavullia, after celebrating Pecco Bagnaia’s MotoGP World Championship victory in Valencia, after his first season in car racing at the wheel of the team’s Audi R8 GT3 Belgian WRT, it’s time for the nine-time motorcycling champion to stop.
But there are already many new features planned for the Doctor, who intends to continue in the Fanatec GT WCE with the aim of conquering the first podium. He will remain linked to the Belgian team, but with another brand: he leaves the House of the rings to get behind the wheel of the new one BMW M4 GT3, which he has already tested on the Montmelò circuit at the end of the European championship. The goal is to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans as soon as possible, but there are other short-term challenges.
Valentino Rossi in the Australian Blue Hell
According to indiscretions that only lack of official status, Valentino Rossi could participate in the Bathurst 12 Hours, which takes place in February, would be the 43-year-old’s first official outing on board a BMW. The endurance event will be held at the Mount Panorama circuit, located in southeastern Australia in a hilly area. A track also known by the name of “Blue Hell“, for its dangerous stretches, between descents and climbs with peaks of 174 meters in altitude, partly obtained from city streets open to traffic when there are no motoring events.
On this track many riders have lost their lives, such as Mike Burgmann in 1986, Denny Hulme in 1992, Jim Colligan, Don Watson and Ian Thornton in 1994, Mark Porter in 2006, just to mention the last ones. The circuit is known throughout the world for being one of the most dangerous but at the same time exciting on planet Earth, both for those who take to the track and for spectators. The presence of Valentino Rossi has not yet been made official, but something transpires from the words of the organizers.
Shane Rudzisdirector of the Bathurst 12 Hours, announced that the BMW brand “has something very special planned that will add more luster. The BMW M4 GT3 making its Australian racing debut at Mount Panorama will attract a lot of curiosity and, knowing BMW, we know they will give it their all to try and win“.
