While it was only about a month ago that Chevrolet began delivering customers the Corvette Z06, two more attractive sports cars with bowtie emblems are already on their way. General Motors President Mark Reuss made the exciting announcement during a GM Investor Day presentation held in New York City. He promised a pair of Chevy-badged performance vehicles to be released in 2024.
He went on to specify one of them would be “the next version of the C8,” adding we “wouldn’t be able to imagine from a performance standpoint.” It’s widely believed to be a version of the hybrid that’s already been teased, potentially carrying the “E-Ray” moniker judging by its recent trademark application. Rumor has it the electric supercar will serve as an indirect successor to the Grand Sport C7 trim level. By combining the V8 with the front-mounted electric motor, it is sure to have all-wheel drive.

As for the rest of the model, Mark Reuss called it an “excellent performance car” that would “set a world standard for Chevrolet performance”. It’s important to mention that GM President refrained from referring to him as a Corvette. That’s not to say it will be a completely different car as he may be referring to the long-rumored top of the Zora range. It’s also said to be a hybrid, but with the flat-plane 5.5-liter V8 from the Z06 instead of the usual ‘Vette’ sourced LT2 E-Ray.
Lest we forget the same Reuss LinkedIn to announce the all-electric Corvette will come to the Ultium platform. The reveal was made in April when he announced the hybrid model would go on sale in 2023. The name and technical specifications of the car will be revealed ahead of the launch. He also said additional gasoline-fueled derivatives were on the way.
Recent reports claim GM has bigger plans for the Corvette by repurposing the fabled name for the electric sedan to rival the Porsche Taycan. There may even be an electric SUV further along, but nothing official at this point. For now, we’re only aware of two performance Chevrolet models coming in 2024, and at least one of them will be a hybrid.
