Mercedes EQA Facelift Spy Previews Future Updates

Posted on

The Mercedes-Benz EQA debuted nearly two years ago, and the company is already working on a new version of the electric crossover. This spy shot offers a bird’s-eye view of the updated vehicle.

Engineers wrapped the nose in camouflage, and the material hides the styling details. Compared to the existing model, the nose looks smoother. The intake at the bottom seems wider. The headlights are the same, but it looks like the graphics inside have some changes.

Previous spy shots show an updated EQA with a different camouflage. The pictures show that the new grille shape is one of the upcoming changes.

At the back, this EQA only has a camouflage stripe under the rear window. The cover likely hides changes to the taillights. The bumper is also different in that it no longer has short vertical sections on each side. It’s possible that this element is under the panel to hide other styling adjustments.

Some of the photos give a glimpse into the cabin. Mercedes doesn’t seem to be disguising anything. This doesn’t rule out a software upgrade but suggests there won’t be any major styling changes there.

Given how quickly this refresh has come after model introduction, we don’t expect major powertrain changes.

In Europe, the EQA is currently available in several trims. The entry-level 250 class has a single electric motor that produces 188 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and a 66.5 kilowatt-hour battery. 250+ gets the 70.5 kWh package. The 300 4Matic has two electric motors for a total of 225 hp (168 kW) and a 66.5 kWh battery. The 350 4Matic boosts output to 288 hp (215 kW).

There’s no info available on when the updated EQA will debut. Our spies think the opening could be done as early as the end of the year. If so, then sales could potentially start as early as 2024.

Mercedes is also working on an EQA sedan to slow down under the upcoming electric C-Class. It drives the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture, which is a completely different foundation than a crossover. Inside, there’s an overhauled infotainment system running the new MB.OS software.
