Porsche 911 Facelift Targeted In Coupe And Convertible Forms

Posted on

The entire Porsche 911 range has an upcoming refresh. Our spies caught the updated coupe and convertible during cold weather testing.

Porsche has never really overhauled the look of the 911. While the refreshed model doesn’t appear to be radically different, there have been some major updates. The front fascia has active blades in the inlets on the outer edge. When open, this cut will provide cooling air to the radiator. When closed, they will provide better aerodynamics.

If you look closely, there is a concealing strip above the fascial opening. It’s possible to hide the lighting elements.

Like many refreshers, Porsche designers didn’t stylize the updated 911’s wings. The company may offer several new wheel designs.

Porsche doesn’t want us to see a refreshed 911 tail. There’s a large flap across the panel and cutouts along the edges of the taillights. The hatches on the aft deck were also under camouflage. Overall, this suggests that the updated model could look slightly different from the back of the current car.

Previous spy shot let’s see inside updated 911. It adopts fully digital instrument cluster. We don’t have any details yet on adjustments to the infotainment system or center console layout. Software tweaks are possible.

Powertrain changes for the refreshed 911 range are not yet known. A hybrid model joins the range at some point. Porsche chairman Oliver Blume recently described the electrified variant as “very sporty”. The setup reportedly puts more emphasis on performance than efficiency.

While we don’t know the exact date, the first examples of the updated 911 will be launched this year. We hope that Porsche will start with the entry-level Carrera variant before bringing out the updated GT3 and Turbo.

The video below shows a refreshed 911 on the go.
