In mid-2022, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume announced plans to expand the lineup by adding a new SUV positioned above the Macan and Cayenne. The electric-only model will be built in-house in Leipzig, Germany and targets the high-end segment of the market with higher profit margins. Peeps from Zuffenhausen have been tight-lipped about the model, but Car is trying to fill a void ahead of the vehicle market launch expected sometime in 2027.
While the Cayenne starts at £63,700 in the UK, it’s believed the seven-seat electric SUV will be three times as expensive before adding options. It appears to carry the code name “K1” and has been developed since 2020 on the Premium Platform Electric architecture that Porsche co-developed with Audi. The PPE will premiere with the next-generation, electric-only Macan and the Q6 E-Tron, but Car reports Porsche’s zero-emissions luxobarge will use a dedicated EV platform evolution.

The three-row SUV reportedly benefits from a 920V electric system with faster charging and boasts a large battery pack with a capacity of over 100 kWh. The most economical version of Porsche’s largest vehicle is rumored to offer a maximum range of 435 miles (700 kilometers) in the WLTP cycle. Oil cooling for the electric motor is said to be planned, along with all-wheel steering to turn the rear wheels up to five degrees.
As far as style is concerned, expect to see a “part sedan, part crossover” silhouette measuring just over five meters (nearly 197 inches). It is said to have a gently curved roof, a sharp windshield, a short bonnet and a liftback-style rear door. It’s believed Porsche intends to give the K1 a real off-road cut with a special driving mode that will greatly boost the air suspension.
The K1 will allegedly be the fifth EV from the brand Car reports the Taycan, Macan, Boxster/Cayman to join forces in 2026 with the pure electric Cayenne. Logic tells us that the latter will be smaller and more affordable than the three-row model, which Oliver Blume describes as “a very sporty interpretation of the SUV.”
When it finally arrived, the K1’s main markets were North America and China.
