Porsche is known for its sports cars. But with the introduction of the Cayenne, Macan and Taycan Cross Turismo, the German marque is looking to prove it has an adventurous side to it.
Even more so when it introduces a rooftop awning which owners can purchase through Porsche Equipment, the company’s division for original accessories and upgrades. The roof tent takes the form of a large hardcase when not installed and can be mounted on the roof of a Porsche vehicle.
In this case, the automaker is showing off its new and proprietary roof awning wild Dive into the glamping experience in California with the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.

Glamping, which is a combination of the words “glamorous” and “camping”, is the perfect word to describe this activity. Beyond the luxurious cabin offered by the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, the 210 x 130 centimeter (6.9 x 4.3 ft) rooftop tent has an integrated high-density polyfoam mattress. The tent can accommodate two adults and can be used in all seasons.
The Taycan Cross Turismo glamping takes on the rougher dirt trails of Southern California. The overnight camp took place in the wilder western part of Saddlerock Ranch – a sprawling property that has served as the backdrop for countless music videos, commercials, movies and TV shows.
Porsche’s glamping event also saw social media personality Brock Keen camping with the Taycan Cross Turismos. Known on Instagram as @996 road tripKeen has been known for his adventures and travels in his Porsche 911 generation 996 equipped with a roof awning.
“I’ve done a 3,000 mile road trip and I’ve landed in Malibu in the mountains, camping with Taycans with rooftop tents. I would never have dreamed that this could happen,” commented Keen.
The Porsche Tequipment roof top retails for €4,980 or around $5,000 at current exchange rates. The manufacturer says the awning cannot be installed on the GT, Cabriolet and Targa models.
