Production of the Acura NSX Type-S Ends, the Wait for the Successor Begins

Acura has announced that the final NSX Type-S has launched. The ceremony for this important event was held at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio.

The last NSX Type-S came with a “350/350” numberplate and was finished with a matte Gotham Gray paint. As well as being the last NSX Type S to launch, this exact model is also the penultimate NSX, marking the end of the Honda/Acura hybrid supercar. The game of waiting for a replacement has now begun.

Introduced in 2021 and shown to the public at Monterey Car Week that year, the Acura NSX Type-S was only produced in limited numbers – 350 units to be exact. Of the 350, 300 were earmarked for the US; 30 were shipped to Japan while 15 were reserved for Canada.

The NSX Type-S is the most powerful version of the hybrid supercar, using three upgraded electric motors and a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 to produce 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 492 pound-feet (667 Newton-meters) of torque. . It makes 27 hp and 16 lb-ft more power than the regular NSX.

As already mentioned, the end of production for the NSX marks the start of the waiting period for its successor. Acura has reiterated that the next-generation NSX will be an electric supercar, although other details about the model are scarce at this point. However, Honda may be teasing the model in an announcement of its future plans, which occurred earlier this year.

Meanwhile, as PMC wraps up its NSX production chapter, PMC is now opening its doors to a limited production run of the 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition. Of note, total production for the TLX Type S PMC Edition will be limited to just 100 units of each NSX-derived color option: Curva Red, 130R White, and Long Beach Blue – the latter will be available for reservation starting December 8. 2022.
