As far as North America is concerned, the reign of the Cadillac CT6 came to a close when the final unit rolled off the assembly line at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant in February 2020. However, the luxury sedan lives on in China, where the all-new, second-generation model was recently revealed. As Cadillac Society was first to report over a year ago, the all-new CT6 is not expected to make its way to North America, which is quite unfortunate, in our opinion.
If it were to be sold in North America, the second-generation Cadillac CT6 certainly has plenty to offer, as it’s been completely overhauled from bumper to bumper. That all starts with a new exterior design, which features new vertical LED headlamps complimented by horizontal daytime running lights (DRLs) at the front. Out back is a unique center mounted brake light that spans the full width of the luxury sedan’s rear window. A new roof treatment gives the second-gen CT6 a sporty, fastback-like appearance.
Inside, the all-new Cadillac CT6 features a curved 33-inch screen that spans the digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel to the center infotainment screen. The unit is pulled straight from the Cadillac Lyriq.
The second-generation Cadillac CT6 also boasts advanced tech like Super Cruise, the luxury marque’s semi-autonomous highway driver assist feature, along with a host of other assist technologies such as Hands-On Lane Centering Assist and Automated Parking Assist.
Currently, the second-gen CT6 is offered exclusively with one drivetrain configuration: the marque’s ubiquitous turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), which is rated at 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The boosted four is mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Notably, the setup enables a near-perfect fifty-fifty (front-rear) weight distribution. Pricing for the luxury sedan starts at 359,700 yuan (approximately $50,860 USD) for the base model.
