The new Ford Ranger Raptor is not yet available in the United States but will eventually arrive in North America. We haven’t had a chance to sample this high-performance truck yet, but we hope to get behind the wheel sometime soon. If you want to know how quickly a pickup truck goes off the rails, you don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the US. Thanks to a new video, we get to see the 2023 Ranger Raptor in action and unleash its full potential.
That PDriveTV channel on YouTube recently had the privilege of testing the new Ranger Raptor. The vehicle featured in the clip above is from Australian spec, meaning it has a more powerful version of the 3.0 liter EcoBoost V6. As a reminder, due to emission restrictions, in Europe, the truck has only 288 horsepower (215 kilowatts) and 362 pound-feet (491 Newton-meters).

However, this is not the case for the AU market. In the Land Down Under, this fast truck comes with 392 hp (292 kW) and nearly the same torque as the European version. That’s a significant boost over the EU spec model and it translates into very impressive acceleration numbers. The team doing this test drive did a few different sprints, but we were clearly most interested in the 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) data.
The best achievement recorded by the Ranger Raptor was 5.79 seconds with the simulated launch control function. Without holding down the brakes and pressing the gas pedal, the truck sprints in 6.43 seconds, which is still quite impressive. Remember that we’re talking about a 5,340-pound (2,422 kilograms) truck with chunky tires and an off-road transmission. This is definitely not a road truck and is still quite a capable off-roader as also shown in this video.
Impressed? We. If you like what you see, you might be pleased to hear this truck will go on sale in the United States starting later this year. It’s unclear whether it will be a 2023 or 2024 model at that point, nor is it known whether the truck will undergo significant changes for US and Canadian buyers. We believe only the 3.0 V6 EcoBoost engine will be available this side of the large pond compared to the European twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engines.
