Official presentation of the Gresini Racing team in Cervia. Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio with clear ideas for the next MotoGP season.
The waltz of MotoGP team presentations continues after Yamaha opened the calendar with the Jakarta event a few days ago. Saturday 21 January was the turn of Gresini Racing, Nadia Gresini’s team in its second year in the premier class. In 2023, the Roman rider Fabio Di Giannantonio and the newcomer Alex Marquez will reconfirm, with the Spaniard who wants to definitively close the difficult three-year period in Honda.
The liveries of the Desmosedici of the customer team: compared to the previous edition, red, the symbolic color of the company, has increased Ducati, which expands to the rear of the bike, while the new shade of blue, shiny and slightly pearly in contrast, offers greater visual impact. For the moment we have to be satisfied with the graphic innovations, to see them in action we will have to wait for the next winter test in Sepang from 10 to 12 February.
Marquez and Di Giannantonio assaulting the top 10
Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez will ride the Ducati GP22, with the specifications that allowed Pecco Bagnaia to conquer the world title. We had a first taste in the Valencia test on 8 November with good sensations. The Emilian team aims to repeat the amazing 2022 vintage, when Aeneas Bastianini gave away four victories and two podiums: “2022 has been an incredible year, but we intend to keep improving and surprising. We are a young team with big ambitions“.
Fabio Di Giannantonio by his side will be the new track engineer Frankie Carchedi, who has worked alongside Joan Mir at Suzuki in recent years. After some “toothing” errors, the Spanish coach will bring the right amount of experience necessary to take the next step: “I want to improve race by race – commented ‘Diggia’ in the press conference -. During this winter I focused on improving myself, being stronger, having more concentration and endurance. I think it will be fine for me“.
For Alex Marquez it will have to be a restart season after the sad experience with Honda. With Ducati he will have the “bike of the moment” at his disposal, it is the best period for the European manufacturers and he will have to make the most of this opportunity to relaunch himself in the MotoGP class and show his talent which has already led him to conquer two titles in Moto3 and Moto2 : “I have a great opportunity, I’ve had a great reception, expectations are high. By working together – declared the rider from Cervera – we will certainly have an optimal season“.
