The First Official Images of the 2024 Kia Sorento Reveal Significant Changes

After witnessing the debut of the wildly redesigned 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, we’re ready for big changes to the mechanically related Sorento. Admittedly, Kia’s midsize SUV has only gone through mid-cycle updates, so styling modifications could never have been this drastic. The facelift does bring some substantial visual revisions to the vehicle which still feels fresh considering the fourth generation model launched more than three years ago.

The first official image of the 2024 Sorento shows Kia has completely reworked the front fascia to accommodate the T-shaped headlamps with the daytime running light strip flanking the Kia logo. By the way, the badge is no longer above the grille as it has been repositioned at the bottom of the hood. The grille has a new look, as does the lower air intake – it still houses the separate fog lights. The vertical air curtains seem a bit bigger now, and we also see silver skid plates.

With this only a mid-cycle update, the Sorento retains the side profile, but with newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the revised taillights discreetly have new graphics and meet at the front instead of separate units as was the case on pre-facelift models. It appears that Kia has moved the taillights even lower, under the silver skid plates.

While the interior immediately looks familiar, there have been changes to the dashboard. For example, the thick vertical air vents in the center are gone, replaced by much slimmer vents to make room for the infotainment system’s enlarged touchscreen. The South Korean brand has also modernized the climate control by removing the old school look, having replaced it with capacitive buttons similar to the EV6 and Sportage. There’s also a fingerprint authentication system carried over from other models from the Hyundai Motor Group, and new interior colors: Interstellar Grey, Volcanic S, Brown, and Cityscape Green.

In typical Hyundai/Kia/Genesis fashion, this is just a design reveal as the technical specifications will be revealed in mid-August.
