The most radical version of the MG 4 has been on sale in China for some time and is now on its way to Europe to complete verification tests of its fast charging system. A variant that we will know in our market as the MG 4 XPower, which these days is in Spain on its European Tour.

The MG 4 XPower is completing its tuning process on European roads, where it has already covered more than 25,000 kilometres. On the one hand, the objective is to refine its dynamic behavior and adapt it to our roads and to the tastes of European drivers.

Technicians from the British manufacturer are working on the configuration of elements such as suspensions, steering, brakes and engine response. On the other hand, numerous fast charging process testto verify full recharge compatibility across Europe.

As we remember, the MG 4XPower It is a version of the compact one that mounts two powerful electric motors, one on each axis, which add up to a combined power of 320 kW (430 hp). A figure that catapulted him to the 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

As well as being quick on the straights, MG wants this variant to be quick on the corners as well and, as well as building on the great work SAIC has done with its chassis set, this model will offer four-wheel drive and an XDS electronic differential lock system that will allow you to take a very fast and safe curve.

In addition, it has a “Track” mode to drive around the circuit, and where we can deactivate the electronic control aids for more manual driving.

The chassis of the MG4 XPower has been adapted to the increase in power, with new suspensions, 18-inch wheels, tires and brakes, including a sports package including exclusive bottom bracket and calipers.

This set starts from a solid foundation, which begins with the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), with a very balanced weight distribution and a low center of gravity, due to the central location of its battery system.

In addition, it enjoys highly evolved suspension trains, with a MacPherson-type front axle and a sophisticated five-link suspension for the rear axle.; and precise front-end feel thanks to a Bosch-built dual-pinion electric power steering that quickly and precisely adjusts steering force to vehicle speed in real time (with three configurable modes: Light, Standard, Sport).

Regarding autonomy, at the moment MG has not given clues about the figures of the European version, but the Chinese variant, which differs very slightly from ours, mounts the pack of 64 gross kWh61.7 useful kWh, which reduces autonomy by 11.5% compared to the conventional version.

This would mean that taking the 450 km of the Comfort version under the WLTP cycle as an example, we could think that the XPower variant of the MG 4 will be around 400 km.

But without a doubt the point that can make you stand out the most is the price. In China, this model starts from an enviable 186,800 yuan (26,534 euros to change). A cost that, as usual, will suffer a significant increase in Europe, a market where its reference may be the 53,990 euros of the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
