Track-Focused Hennessey Venom F5 Tempted With Roof Scoop, Rear Wing

Hennessey intends to diversify its Venom F5 lineup with a new strain slated to debut today. The Texas-based tuner took to social media to release teaser images of its spicy hypercar in what appears to be a track-flavored version seen from the rear wing. Additionally, we also notice a roof scoop which tells us we are dealing with a coupe-based derivative, not the Venom F5 Roadster introduced in 2022.

If we do look at a track-focused version, it won’t be the one that breaks the 300 mph barrier. Instead, Hennessey is likely to develop the Venom F5 which will make absolute top speed a priority to focus on speeding through corners. In an interview with Top Gear magazine almost two years ago John Hennessey hinted at a GTR-like version with high downforce. Could this be? We’ll find out soon enough.

Hennessey had suggested taking the Venom F5 to the Nürburgring to set up quick lap times, and this new version seems like the ideal tool to tackle the demanding Green Hell. The aftermarket specialist known for his high-powered muscle cars is aiming for a sub-seven minute lap, so the Mercedes-AMG One’s record is not in jeopardy.

Unlike the Venom GT which is loosely connected to the Lotus Exige, its successor is being touted as a thorough Hennessey effort. A top speed run has yet to be established, but the hypercar will hit 271.6 mph (437.1 km/h) in February 2022 at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida. Both the coupe and droptop versions have been advertised with a top speed of over 300 mph (483 km/h).

Hennessey is building 24 coupes and 30 roadsters, with more than 20 due to be built and delivered in 2023. The $2.1 million Venom F5 Coupe has long since sold out while multiple build slots for the $3 million F5 Roadster are still up for grabs.
