Upcoming Cadillac GT4, New CT6 Leaked In Official Documents From China

Cadillac is strengthening its ranks in China. In fact, it seems that the automaker is launching two new cars in the People’s Republic as seen in the unofficial reveal of the two new models from the American automaker. Taken from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), this Cadillac model is sure to be launched, even though it is said to be a forbidden fruit for American car buyers.

The first Cadillac here is the new CT6. A heavily camouflaged prototype of this model was captured in Detroit earlier this year. But since the nameplate has since been phased out in the US, it will most likely be sold exclusively in China where the current generation of full-size luxury sedans is still on the market.

Apart from the design, documents from MIIT China reveal few details about the sedan. It has the same wheelbase as the previous model, while slightly dropping overall size. Meanwhile, the listed powerplant is 2.0 liters, so we’re assuming it’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter banger four, which produces 169 kilowatts (227 horsepower), according to the document.

Meanwhile, another Cadillac leaked by MIIT China is the upcoming GT4. As seen in the photos, the model looks like a crossover but with a swoopy roofline.

Much like the CT6 leaks, the document accompanying the GT4 gives us a preview of what to expect from the new model. Its wheelbase is right between the XT4 and XT5 in length, as are its overall dimensions. It will be powered by the same factory found in the new CT6 with the same issue number.

Both Cadillacs will be manufactured by SAIC-GM Dongyue Automobile Co., Ltd. – a joint venture between the American brand and the largest of China’s four state-owned automakers.
