Volkswagen Aero B Spied Charging, Photos Reveal Interior

The Volkswagen Aero B is a brand concept for an electric sedan that is supposed to launch in the second half of 2023. We expect the production version to have a more creative name. This spy shot captures a vehicle that looks almost production ready. There’s even a glimpse inside the cabin.

The Aero B has a trapezoidal opening in the front fascia and vertical inlets at the corners. VW engineers put a sticker over the headlights and nose tip. Judging from the concept design, there may be light bars running across the face of the vehicle.

In profile, the Aero B has a sleek look. The flowing roof includes a steeply raked windshield. The charging port is on the rear fender on the passenger side. The car runs on wheels with the spokes spread out at the edges.

There are more stickers that hide the vehicle design on the back. There is a sticker above the taillight. The stripes outline the faux exhaust pipe on the bumper.

With the passenger door open, we can see the interior of the Aero B well. Unfortunately, the fabric panels hide most of the dashboard. A small part of the digital instrument cluster is visible. The tall infotainment screen protrudes from the center stack, and has buttons underneath.

Aero B will ride on the MEB platform. Rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations will be available. There will even be a GTX performance model at some point in the vehicle’s life. Exact powertrain details are not yet available, but the concept has a projected range of 435 miles (700 kilometers).

The production-spec Aero B name may be ID.7. VW filed trademark for this moniker and ID.7 Tourer in Europe earlier this year. The final title hints at a possible future wagon variant.

VW will launch production of the Aero B in China first. It is unclear whether the company intends to sell the electric sedan in the United States. CEO of VW America Scott Keogh hints at that possibility vehicle sales in the US.
